Favorite Project

I've been working on improving automated scanning of code for security vulnerabilities. As the company grows, keeping up on the security side becomes increasingly difficult, so automating some of the work is essential. I loved working on this project for the engineering challenges it posed and the lasting impact it will have. Even long after the internship, the improvements I made will continue to keep GitHub secure.

Biggest Takeaway

One of the biggest takeaways for me was learning what types of roles there are in the security field and how the teams work together. I finally learned exactly what an Application Security Engineer does and realized it's something I would love to pursue as a career.

Favorite Internship Memory

My favorite thing about working at GitHub was how friendly everyone is. Everyone is constantly introducing themselves and making an effort to get to know you. It sounds cliche, but working at GitHub feels like being a part of a family.
